Back in February 1999 I (EQU) needed a platform to teach myself IRC
administration and test out my code snippets for ircd, so EQUNet was
formed. In the beginning I used one of my workstations to run EQUNet and
at that point the network had no active users. The idea of having a IRC
network of our own came up later in 1999 when also Bafi and other my
friends wanted to learn IRC administration and test out miscellaneous
things. Since then we have grown into a small community of people who hang
out in EQUNet for various reasons.
You might want to check out the archived news
section, it gives you a pretty good idea how the network has evolved and what
has happened in the past.
